ARTS KOREA LAB FESTIVAL: Futurescape

ARTS KOREA LAB, Seoul, Korea

19.11.-23.11.2024

The 2024 Art Korea Lab Festival will explore the future shaped by the convergence of art and technology under the theme "FUTURESCAPE." This festival will showcase artistic experiments and innovative business models discovered through our support programs.

During the festival, participants can engage in a "Conference" with domestic and international figures, a "Showcase" of experimental works and new technologies, and an "Open Studio and Pitching" event for aspiring entrepreneurs and art companies to network. Over five days, we will host a total of seven programs.

We aim to reflect on the rapidly evolving art ecosystem and experience the future of art and technology convergence, as well as the current state of interdisciplinary art globally.

Media artist Sey Min moderated the session "Art Industry in the Post-AI Era", which explored how artificial intelligence (AI) is not only transforming art creation and distribution but also generating new business models and serving as a powerful tool in the art industry. Panelists included Catherine Turp (Creative Director, Moment Factory), Seb Chan (Director & CEO, ACMI), Andrea Faroppa (Head, Sónar+D), and Soo-eung Chae (Director, Aria Studio). The discussion covered business opportunities arising from the fusion of AI and art, industrial shifts, and sustainable strategies for the art industry.

Soh Yeong Roh, Director of Art Center Nabi, moderated the session "AI Humanity", which examined the ethical, social, and cultural questions raised by AI-driven innovation. Panelists Ferdi Alici (Director, Ouchhh), Daniela Nedovescu & Octavian Mot (mots), Seungsoon Park (Co-founder, Neutune), and Sujin Lee (Professor, Sejong University) discussed AI-human interaction, shifts in artistic creation and appreciation, and the role of art in the AI era.
