Decoding Korea

Grand Palais Immersif, Paris

26.07.-25.08.2024

Decoding Korea is an exhibition exploring modern Korea through artistic, cultural, and historical lenses. It combines the work of ten Korean media artists with Gloval Groove and Wrap Around the World by Nam June PAIK, offering a philosophical, aesthetic, and cultural reinterpretation of Korean society. Decoding Korea deciphers contemporary Korean values and structures through keywords such as “memory,” “technology,” and “environment.”

This exhibition affirms the fact that art is not only for visual pleasure, but also a catalyst for change. By connecting the voices of individual artists, Decoding Korea demonstrates the power of art to connect the past, the present, and the future.

Decoding Korea ultimately goes beyond the Korean context, addressing global challenges through art and creating a platform for international discourse, allowing us to dream of a better future.

In celebration of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Decoding Korea, a media art exhibition representing South Korea, was held at the Grand Palais Immersif.

While the Olympics connect the world through sports, Decoding Korea serves as a cultural platform that bridges Korea and the world through media art. Utilizing digital technology and video art, this exhibition offers an immersive experience, highlighting the evolution of Korean media art and its position within the global artistic landscape.
