SDF 2020 gathered leading artists and collective intelligence to create the art project Fermata. The term Fermata refers to a musical symbol that instructs performers to temporarily slow down or pause the rhythm at certain points in a piece. When everyone is moving at the same speed and in the same direction, someone needs to pause, catch their breath, and reflect on what society may be overlooking. 

Fermata is a sound art project that uses “sound” as a medium to encourage reflection on contemporary society and imagine new possibilities, offering a different perspective on the values and possibilities we may have overlooked.
